Historical Note: This was the start of the civil war/coup plot by McChimp and his supporters, who sought to instigate chaos and civil war in Lazarus to have the Vice Delegate removed.

Public Apology on Recent Events

Foremost it has always been my hope for Lazarus to be a welcoming place where internal disputes are kept to a minimum and we all get along to some extent, and I have to admit that I have not achieved this in the last few weeks and have allowed my personal feelings to get in the way of government policy.

I take full responsibility for any issues that may have been caused towards the reputation of the Delegacy, and for Treadwellia himself.

I cannot either let Domais take the fall for this, as it was my initial decision to consider re-alignment. It was only ever my intention to secure more treaties for Lazarus, and to improve our foreign relations standing, and instead I have possibly put this region into disrepute. And in doing so I took a stance, which in hindsight I shouldn't have taken, as it should be my role to support any government of the day, but I must also maintain a professional distance between associating the Delegacy with any particular position as to not harm its standing.

Both publicly and privately, I am neutral in terms of my own feelings on R/D, as to me what I value the most is engagement with other regions and organizations, and the friendships that such engagement can bring. I never look upon R/D as a way to harm any specific region, organization, or individual, and more as a way to sign treaties and maintain the security of our region and participate in the Nationstates community, in the hopes of greater understanding and friendship between the wider community and Lazarus.

And due to my general concerns about The Outback and the status of our treaty with the New Pacific Order, I have to admit out of genuine worry and concern for our regional security I supported the re-alignment to defender.

I further supported the ban of Killer Kitty and joWhatup out of genuine concern at the time that there was a possibly of a security situation occurring where the Delegacy was put in peril, and I acted upon the best information I had received at the time from multiple sources internally and abroad.

As I have talked publicly to several parties in an effort to get the point of view of many sides of this situation, it is likely that I might have hurt the government position and said things that were inappropriate for my political position. For this I apologize as well.

This has put me in a compromised position, as I am meant to support the government and not hurt their interests, and to also make sure that the Delegacy is not in any way put in disrepute.

I will continue to fulfill my constitutional duties, but it would be best if I step away from politics to allow for others to take over any communicative roles of our foreign policy and internal affairs.

While I have engaged in politics, it has only been to support the government of the time, and act what I believe were in the best interests of the region.

For this reason, I will recuse myself on further bans and security actions at this time, acting only in my role as Chair, and I will cease to engage in further discussion abroad.

Lazarus has never had intention of hostility towards any organization, region, or individual, in our actions, and I would hope that whatever happens recently that the wider NS community is aware of this. The proscription was meant by me as a safeguard, given recent events, and not as a declaration of hostility against Lone Wolves United.

As far as the Assembly, I would ask citizens in the future to inform me (if not already doing so) prior to releasing any details of votes or the status of legislation in private areas of the Assembly,, or the contents of legislation in the private areas of the Assembly, as I can be legally required to report and act upon such breaches in line with the Criminal Code Act.

I wish the best for Lazarus as always, and in that regard, I hope that Lazarus can move forward whatever the outcome of recent events.

Sincerely,
@Eldarion

Thank you for the candid statement.

The legislative motions of the last few days have been extremely disturbing, as have the rumours and announcements about the ways the government has considered securing their passage.

This is a welcome step back from the brink.

It is important for us to ensure that in the future, the divisive policies of foreign powers do not affect and divide Lazarus as this issue has.

We all make.mistakes. The important part is learning from your mistakes, fixing them, and moving forward with more wisdom than before.

You seem to me like you have been earnestly just trying your best. I appreciate the amount of thought that you put into the work you do. It's okay to make mistakes, I'm glad things all worked out in the end. :)
