Laoshi is the Chinese-language word for "teacher" in Pinyin and the number is 42 is obviously an easter egg - my original inclination was that it had something to do with the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but after a bit of research (re: looking up the number 42 on Wikipedia and Ctrl-F-ing "Chinese") that appears to be a Chinese pun for the word "yes".
