Roger (sometimes spelled Rodger) is an English surname of Anglo-Saxon origin.Link[1] The name Roger is derived from the pre-7th century Anglo-Saxon (Teutonic) name Hroðgar, which means 'fame and spear' ('hroð' fame or renown, 'gar' spear), the first reference to which is in Beowulf, the epic poem of the Dark Ages.
The name is also found in the Netherlands and Normandy in the forms "Rutger" and "Rogier". The Latin form of the name is Rogerius, as used by a few medieval figures. The variant Rosser comes from a Welsh derivation of the Old Norse Rhosier meaning "renown for his sword" (or spear).

Middle Ages
By the middle ages the Authai Clans had adopted Charism (informally demonic gryphon worship) and they renamed themselves the Kingdom of Authaira. This was an oppressive Monarchy who ruled with an iron fist, and at times bled the nation dry. It had a strong feudal system and everyone gave their allegiance to the King, there was little internal strife as the royal line was well established and the citizens were heavily controlled by the Military.
Over the next few centuries these settlers developed into a distinct Culture now known as Authairean. The population was divided into districts (Regions) and duchy's (sub Regions) which would co-operate, compete and sometimes fight with each other. All however were usually dominated by a leading King or Duke with a Monarch's powers.
Revolutionary Period
During the revolutionary period New Rogernomics was largely behind in social and political freedom in comparison to neighboring Nations, despite significant moves in electoral reform and even the establishment of parliament by the Monarch King Armonde (1820-1863). The King in an ill-conceived move imposed heavier restrictions on the political freedoms of the People, as they became disenchanted by an authoritarian monarchy and began to desire an end to the power of the King. This soon came to pass with a Revolution in 1863, which instituted a Constitutional Monarchy. However there was still distaste over the existence of the Monarchy, the Royal family was killed, and the nation was renamed the Republic of Rogernomics.
Civil War Period
After many prosperous years of republican rule, a global depression hit, wiping out much of the prosperity of the country and destabilizing the banking system. As a result of this, in 1936 the Republic of Rogernomics collapsed and a fascist Military dictatorship was established under General Darmagovich, who took power in a bloody and horrific massacre of the members of parliament. This dictatorship would lead to the development of an armed resistance movement against the newly formed dictatorship, with both cultural and political repression fueling such a movement.
Restoration of the Republic
Despite initial Military successes by the Darmagovich regime, a determined resistance movement formed in Bouranburg, spreading to many cities, and leading to a substantial part of the nation breaking away from the regime, and forming their own defacto governments, which held differing international recognition, with the defacto Government of the Republic of New Rogernomics holding the most legitimacy due to it's democratic organization.
Eventually General Darmagovich's regime began to show signs of collapse, with international sanctions and economic pressure taking their toll, as well as on-going Military engagements in the civil war against the rebelling defacto governments taking a dramatic and disastrous turn. Whether it was due to the stress of the civil war and attempting to hold his regime together, or as often speculated a sudden onset of pneumonia while visiting his troops, General Darmagovich died on May the 16th 1946. While the civil war would continue on his death, a cease fire would be signed in November of that year.
Thereafter, a Federation was formed dividing up the nation, this was after discussion between all the sides weary of the war. It was then divided the nation into Rogernomics who supported the dictator, New Rogernomics who were heavily against the dictator, and Rogernomica, which had a mix of both sides and was a neutral territory. Further talks would later re-establish the Republic formally as the Republic of New Rogernomics on September 20th 1947, thus ending the civil war. |
The Geography of New Rogernomics is varied and unique, from the expansive Giron and Thepian deserts, the Authine, Cameron Brook, and Alveras forests, and the Darma Ranges mountain range to the north. It also includes the Eastern Sea, a substantial salt water lake near Gironde city, and the smaller Thepaula Lake which rests beside Thepaula city. The nation also features six major highways alongside rail links, with 13 minor highways, which often criss-cross the Charis, Luar, Onde, Bouran, and Gironde rivers.
The lush forests of the nation are welcoming to wildlife, although in the 19th century through to the 20th century, poor land management and industrial waste and city expansion severely damaged this eco-system, leading to numerous mass extinctions of native plant and animal Species. The native animal however, the Tribble, a friendly and fluffy creature, frolics happily through the landscape endearing itself to New Rogernomicans over the centuries.
A major feature is also the Crown Sea, which alongside being a place for sailing, and host to the major port cities of New Rogernomics, hosts a major sea life protection area, home to many different fish Species, whales, and occasionally dolphins in the warmer months.
Climate
New Rogernomics has a varied Climate, matching its varying eco-systems, with it reaching 38°C (100.4°F) in the desert Regions, to cooler average temperatures in the mountainous Regions with temperatures of 6.2 °C (43.2 °F), although given that many cities exist on the coast, and around major lakes, there can be a lot of Climate variation noticed by those living in each of the subsequent constituent states.
Environmental restoration projects are also a major effort through the nation, regardless of Government administration, and a major employer, with the New Rogernomics National Parks Service (NRNPS) employing millions to plant trees, observe plant and animal life for scientific studies, and run a parks system that caters to hundreds of millions of yearly visitors, New Rogernomicans and tourists alike.

Government

New Rogernomics has a relatively stable Government system, with a Lower and Upper House of Parliament, the former called the National Assembly, and the later called the Council of Ministers, which as well as being an Upper House, also acts as an advisory Council to the Monarch of New Rogernomics.
The government is separated into three branches:
- Legislature: the bicameral Parliament, defined in the constitution as comprising the Council of Ministers and the National Assembly;
- Executive: the council of ministers, which in practice gives legal effect to the decisions of the cabinet, comprising the prime minister and council of ministers who advise the monarch;
- Judiciary: the Supreme Court of New Rogernomics, and other constituent state courts, whose judges are elected at the national level for the Supreme Court, and the regional level for the constituent state courts.
The National Assembly is elected every four years, with national Elections and differing election dates per region. It is the primary legislature of New Rogernomics and at any one time may hold between 450 to 460 national delegates. The National Assembly per their authority, may overturn a legislative veto of the Council of Ministers through a super majority vote, as well as put forward the list of appointees to the Council of Ministers.
Each Constituent State has their own constitution and regional authority which governs it, consisting of a Regional Assembly, which governs each state according to their own mandates, so long as they abide by decisions of the National Assembly.
Constitutionally the Monarch of New Rogernomics has final say on who gets appointed to the Council of Ministers, and the Council of Ministers may veto the National Assembly, or put forward legislation of their own. Though it is rare for the Monarch to refuse an appointment by the National Assembly or for the Council of Ministers to use their veto beyond the purpose of extending a national debate on an issue.
Currently the Government of New Rogernomics consists of Prime Minister Mark Rosendale of the Authairea Green Party which gained 33.9% of the vote, who is in coalition with the New Rogernomics Progressive Party which gained 25% of the vote in the 2018 New Rogernomics Elections. The current Chief Justice elected in the same election year was Justice Michelle Voulorte, daughter of former famed Chief Justice Frederick Voulorte, who gained 63.9% of the vote.
Law

The Laws of New Rogernomics compromise of the Law of the New Rogernomics Parliament, as the unitary and paramount law of the land, as well as the devolved law to the constituent states. Thus as such it varies between region, in both the judicial systems and enacted law. It is common for Federal Law to set general regulatory structure, to determine the focus and operating budget of national programs, as well as the Bill of Rights, Human Rights legislation, and general expectations for court process. Whereas the law devolved to the constituent states, will supplement national law, applying bi-Laws and regulations for local jurisdictions.
The Monarchy
The Monarchy is the bedrock of the civil society of the nation, and it has wide ranging authority that spreads to various commercial, religious, cultural, as well as educational or scientific institutions. Beginning as despotic rule by the tribal chieftain and king Sarvon Grau, it became attached to the religious authorities of the nation through the defacto state Religion of Charism. Lastly, he established the Authairean Royal line and built Authairea Castle, which still stands today.
Queen Eviare was the monarch that presided over the cultural Renaissance of the nation, and was able to organize major public works, and establish the Monarchy on less authoritarian, and more constitutional lines, as well as bring public Education and the greater public consciousness that came with it. Though the pace of development was slow, and public dissatisfaction was building. The next Monarch, King Armonde established parliament and pushed on regardless with further political reforms. However this would not save the Monarchy from a popular revolt, with King Amronde effectively executed and his family poisoned in 1863.
The Monarchy was revived many centuries later on May the 12th 2008 under Lord Sireon Yarth, who was given the powers of a constitutional Monarch under the jurisdiction of parliament and the Council of Ministers. His reign was relatively quiet and overwhelming popular, with support of at least 80% of the People in several polls conducted at the time. His sudden death however brought a brief end to the monarchy, despite the Lord on his deathbed requesting all parties retain it. Political feuds broke out between the New Rogernomics Socialist Party faction, and the Authairea Green Party and Progressive Party faction, the later wishing to establish a new monarch.
While the political squabbling continued, a small student movement called the 'Authairean knights' was established, and was very popular among the noble classes and Military circles, eventually it was incorporated into the Military academy. At this point it became politically active, organizing a political movement that placed 'Feuran Authairas', being a descendant of Lord Sireon Yarth on the throne. King Feuran Authairas had his coronation on the 1st of January of 2014, and established the nation as effectively a multi-party state, with an executive council, which is appointed by the King every 3 years. Currently he is widely accepted by the population, and enthusiastically by the nobility of New Rogernomics.
Military
The Military consists of the New Rogernomics Air Force, Army, and New Rogernomics Coastal Defense, the current head of the Military is Major General Juliet Harris, who was elected in a national referendum with the required two thirds majority. The New Rogernomics Military remains large and well-funded, but in line with arms control agreements.
The most major element of the Military is the New Rogernomics Air Defense (NRAD Force), which controls the nuclear arsenal (as well as the Space Forces). The New Rogernomics Coastal Defense (NRCD Force) controls the defensive missile systems along the coast, 8 aircraft carriers, 16 missile cruisers and 8 nuclear submarines. The New Rogernomics Ground Defense (NRGD Force) is the second largest Military force and consists of major city defense systems such as mounted missile turrets deployed across the city that can be quickly assembled in place, it also controls the Bouranburg Army base, and currently has deployed howitzer artillery divisions, tank divisions, and mechanized infantry divisions in each city; though this changes upon need in case of Military drills or war games.
New Rogernomics throughout its History has neither been overly militaristic or overly peaceful. During the battle of the Authine River, where the 'Kingdom of Authairea' (as New Rogernomics was known then) finally united under a single Military authority. This remained consistent till the Republic of Rogernomics civil war when the Military was split between rebel and dictator loyalist Armies.
New Rogernomics has been a recognized nuclear state since 1974. New Rogernomics has signed and ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT)[156] and acceded to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. New Rogernomic's annual Military expenditure in 2018 was x trillion, or x%,of its GDP.
A large Military parade is held in Bouranburg every Freedom Day on December 1st, as part of the independence day celebration, with fireworks displays, Music concerts and arts shows. Authairea castle is also opened for a yearly speech from the King of New Rogernomics. This is followed on the 30th to 31st by the Festival of the Fallen, which is a two day festival commemorating the war dead of New Rogernomics.

Agriculture
New Rogernomics has poor natural conditions (land and Climate) for agricultural production, but is a large producer of cheese products, wine, and beer, in the fertile Regions surrounding Lake Thepaula, representing nearly 80% of it's total production of agricultural goods, the remainder of which are mostly imported and processed within the country.

New Rogernomics News Network is the largest Media company that operates in New Rogernomics, compromising of the New Rogernomics News Network network of TV stations, the major Newspapers New Rogernomics Post and Gryphon Beak Chronicle. The second largest Media company is Hawk Zone Publishing, which operates the New Rogernomics Times and Authairean Express, which are the longest running newspapers in New Rogernomics. Another major Media company that operates is InfronTech, which offers a wide range of financial news, as well as informative TV programming, documentaries, and foreign TV content and movies.
While the New Rogernomics cinema is not as well established as others in the region, Risen Films, a state-owned film studio, operates a series of major studios in Bouranburg, Authairea, and Thepaula, with the most well established in Authairea, more infamously due to the Darmagovich Dictatorships emphasis on a need for propaganda film productions. It is here that the Franklin Film Studios operates (originally called the Darma Film Studios), delivering world-class movie productions, and offering a place for movie directors to enter the national and regional stage.
Cuisine
New Rogernomics Cuisine has a focus around local tea or coffee houses, where families, friends, and co-workers meet daily. Many such tea or coffee houses provide areas for communal cooking, where New Rogernomicans can bring their food and drink to prepare and share, especially where the rough Climate makes outdoor events difficult. It is common for most New Rogernomicans to enjoy both local tea from Thepaula, and imported varieties from Asia, for breakfast, with coffee a drink for midday or the night hours, and the usual eating faire is bread, cheese, and seasoned meats, inclusive of lamb and pork. Additionally, varieties of seafood or vegetable soups are used to supplement such meals or act as a starter for a larger feast.
Cuisine in New Rogernomics also involves consumption of wine and beer, which are locally grown, distilled and produced yearly from the vineyards and farms around the Thepaula lake region, which is the major region of agricultural production, and to a more minor extent the outlying towns of Authairea city.
Most People eat out or cook with others, it is only on a private or formal engagement that there is cooking at home. This is a central tenet of society, that food and resources should be shared to benefit all of society not just a few, there is no greater pride in New Rogernomics than preparing a good meal, a good cup of tea or a good coffee. Though tea and coffee houses are the main places for socializing, with vigorous debates, personal, political or economic relationships formed and broken within their walls.
